My old union, the Utility Workers Union of America, support Bernie Sanders by over 60 percent in an internal poll.
5000 rank and file union members signed a petition generated and circulated by the all-volunteer Labor for Bernie phenomenon. I’m very happy to say we played a major role in starting that, and reaching that fantastic number.
As a result of the very strong grassroots effort the federation of unions, the AFL-CIO, once thought likely to endorse HRC early, has decided to hold back on an endorsement and delay it. That will give the grassroots movement and Labor for Bernie time to grow even more, get ever larger, and feed the Bernie Sanders Momentum being felt throughout the nation.
Finally, on this great week, recent polls show that Bernie would beat Republican candidates in one on one contest–Donald Trump, the early favorite of the Republican base, Koch favorite and union busting Scott Walker, and GOP establishment favorite Jeb Bush!!
The evidence could not be more clear. Bernie Sanders can be our next President, but only if those of us who believe in American democracy, opportunity, and freedom work as hard as we can to build and expand this great movement–our movement–to elect Bernie Sanders President.
Finally, someone is standing and saying exactly what the problems are and how we can build a movement bigger than a President to solve those problems.
